====== Searching the OPAC ====== {{ :pergamonmu:opac:opac-general-search.png?direct&200|General Search}}The simplest way to use the OPAC is to enter a word or phrase in the [**Search**] field and press return. This method of searching applies this criteria to the: * Title * Keywords * Series Title * Subject * Contributors (Authors, Illustrators etc.) The displays the results on screen in a tabular format consisting of three fields - the item accession number, the title of the item, and the class-mark. An additional forth field is added the end of a line to indicate where the item is currently out of the library (i.e. on loan to another reader). {{:pergamonmu:opac:opac-drill-down.png?direct&200 |}}Each title in the list is a standard hyper-text link which can be clicked to display the item details. Key details in this new display are also hyper-text links and can therefore also be clicked to allow a general browsing of the catalogue contents. Once any additional page is displayed, the [**Back**] and [**Forward**] toolbar icons become active to allow the user to move backwards and forwards through the results in the same way as browsing visited internet pages. At any time when a new search is entered in the main [**Search**] field, this browsing history is cleared. ---- {{:logo.png?nolink |}}\\ [[:start|Pergamon Wiki Home]]
