====== Mystic Help ====== ==== BISON: Package Management Overview ==== Within the Mystic environment, **Packages** provide a means by which Catalogue Items can be collected into packages of items which need to be associated with one another. Unlike assigning a **Category (Catalogue)** to an item, the **Package** system allows any individual item to be included in one //or more// packages at the same time. **Packages** can be used for many different purposes, including: * **Performing Stock Checks** - all items, or a sub-set of items can be placed into a stock check package and then checked over a period of time. Because items can be part of several packages at the same time, stock checks for different purposes can be performed at the same time by including the item in multiple packages without interfering with each other. **Stock Check Packages** are important enough to have their own dedicated stock check dialog, tailored specifically to the process. * **Investigative** - Investigation packages are created as part of the **Integrity Check** functions available in the **Catalogue Manager** and the **Reader Manager**. Investigation packages allow the items which satisfy a set of integrity check **failures** to be investigated from a known, defined set. * **Processing** - There are several processing packages available, designed to allow further processing of the items contained within them. A common use of a processing package is to group items together prior to removal from the database, or for return to a lending library such as a local council or education library service. Other package types can be created within the **Lookup Manager** for indexing purposes, but only those known to Mystic already and possessing a known System Key can be used by Mystic functions. Note that deleting a package from the Mystic application only removes the package and references to its contents - the linked Catalogue Items remain untouched. ---- \\ Mystic Linked Help Files\\ Pergamon Wiki Home
