Creating Projects

There are two ways to create a new project in LostPlot - creating a new project, and updating an existing project which has not yet been saved.

Create Project

In order to add a new project, click the [Create] toolbar button. A dialog is displayed showing all of the existing project names in your collection, along with a field into which you can enter the new project name.

A [Group] drop-down is provided listing all current groupings that have been created by the author - in many ways, these can be regarded as 'folders' and allow an element of management of projects. Either select one of the existing groupings or type a new grouping into the field.

After entering an appropriate [Project Name], click the [Create] button to create the empty project in the database.

Note: Once updated in the database, any new grouping will appear in the drop-down listbox for selection with new projects in the future.

Update Project

An alternate method of creating a new project is to edit the empty LostPlot environment when initially logging into the application. Add as many Index Cards as required then click the [Update] toolbar button.

Prior to updating the database, LostPlot will prompt for a new project name.

It is strongly advised that you create a project using the [Create] toolbar button prior to adding Index Cards, as the project can then be configured to auto-save changes as they are entered. Until the project has been saved at least once, the auto-save features are unable to operate leaving you open to data loss in the case of internet connection failure.
