An advanced booking is similar in nature to a reservation in that it is used by an Reader to lay a prior claim to an Item. In this case however, an advanced booking is an explicit claim on an Item at a specific date and time, and for a known duration.

Advanced bookings override reservations and circulations. Advanced bookings are often used in order to ensure that Items are available for use at a specific date and time in order to coincide with other events that require the presence of the Item.
