The Login form provides two fields that allow a user to enter their login name and a password. The correct combination of the two is used to determine whether the user is permitted access to the Pergamon application, along with establishing the range of permissions that the user has once within the system.

Because some databases are client-server, with the database itself additionally requiring authentication, the login form may attempt to validate the user with the database server even before determining internal authentication.

The login form will also display whether a lack of licenses are avaiable. As long as licenses are available that will allow reasonable access to the system (and therefore the ability to enter further license information), no warning will be displayed.
