Import SQL Dump

This feature is only available from v1.0.96 onwards.

The Import SQL Dump facility is provided to import a SQL Dump file that was generated using the Export SQL Dump facility on the same or like-Pergamon installation, such as the merger of several initial cataloging databases on different machines and without the availability of a networked database.

Only one option is provided for Import, but when selected will automatically identify what type of file the user chooses from an Open File dialog. The three possible options are:

  • Items (catalogue)

  • Readers

  • Circulations

The filename is irrelevant - the file type is identified from internal data within the file.

One or more of these files can be imported - a cataloging exercise for example, need only use Item SQLDump files. There is no requirement to either generate or import all three.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If a full import is to take place, the Item and Reader SQLDump files can be imported in any order, BUT the Circulations import must always take place last. The circulations import relies upon the existence of the new Items and Readers in the destination database. Importing the Circulations at any other time may result in data loss. Always back up the database before performing any import.
