+==== Why use Media overrides here rather than in Media type? ====
+At first glance, it may seem that the means to override the number of loan days is duplicated for Media in two locations: both here, and in the [[:pergamonmystic:linkedhelp:lookup_module_media|Item Media]] types category. In reality, there is a subtle difference regarding the two systems.
+  * If a loan duration is overridden in the [[:pergamonmystic:linkedhelp:lookup_module_media|Item Media]] types category, the override takes effect for all readers, regardless of **Circulations Profile** as the override is connected only to the media type.
+  * If a loan duration is overridden here in the **Circulations Profile** media overrides section, the override number of days only takes effect for that media type **and** when the reader has this specific **Circulations Profile**. As a result, a staff member with a staff profile (for example) could have a longer duration set for text books which would work independently of student profiles.
