Under normal circumstances, items that are being used in the catalogue are marked as Active and will appear in OPAC searches and in the circulations functions. On occasion however, it may be necessary to make an item unavailable - either temporarily because of damage, or perhaps because the item is being removed from the library permanently.

In order to deactivate an item, select the item in the Catalogue Item Manager then either:

• Click the [Active] checkbox beneath the accession barcode number, then [Update] the item

• Click the [Active] toolbar icon in the [State] toolbar group

Note that in the latter case, the toolbar icon will change the status of the item immediately, and does not need the item to be updated manually.
