There are three ways to create new cards within the project.

By clicking the [Create] toolbar icon on the [Cards] toolbar tab, a new unformatted index card is added to the end of the current card set.

While the card will appear in the currently displayed range, it's default configuration may not match the selected Range and therefore may disappear if the card set is refreshed. If a restricted Range is currently selected, it is recommended to configure the new card before working on it.

This method is the usual way of creating a new Index Card in a new project.

By clicking on the drop-down menu icon next to the [Create] toolbar icon on the [Cards] toolbar tab, the author has more control over where the new card is created. By selecting on of the menu options, a new index card will be created either:

1. At the end of the card set (as the [Create] toolbar icon)
2. Before the currently selected card
3. After the currently selected card

In normal working mode, it is far more convenient for the author to create new cards using the [Continuation] icon on a card marked by the [⇉] symbol.

Using this method of creating a new card ensures that the new card is created immediately following the currently selected card, and is formatted to be part of the previous cards story arc.
